Venezuelan President to visit Russia

(RBC) - Hugo Chavez, the President of Venezuela, arrives in Russia today for a three-day visit. On the first day of his visit Chavez is scheduled to meet with the administration of the Volgograd region, local businessmen and Vagit Alekperov, President of the oil company LUKoil, to discuss trade and economic cooperation.

This will be Chavez's second visit to Volgograd. He visited the city in May 2001, reports Trend.

On July 26 and 27 the Venezuelan leader will be in Moscow for talks with Russian officials. Contracts for Russian arms supplies to Venezuela will be signed after the negotiations. Venezuela plans to buy Su-30 fighter jets and helicopters worth more than $1 billion
