BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 22. VTB of Russia plans to create a payment application "VTB Pay" in 2024, said VTB Deputy Chairman of the Management Board Georgy Gorshkov, Trend reports.
According to him, the platform will make it possible to integrate all payment technologies of the bank, including various variants of QR payments.
"We will develop the application "VTB Pay", which will unite all existing payment technologies for customers. In addition, we are cooperating with the Bank of Russia to implement a single, universal QR solution", - Gorshkov said.
Gorshkov emphasized that the bank also plans to expand the functionality of "VTB ID".
"'The VTB ID service, which allows more accessible access to markets and other online resources that our clients actively utilize, will be improved in 2024. We will also offer the possibility to use this service while making purchases in installments," the Deputy Chairman of the Management Board said.
VTB also plans to actively explore biometric technologies. The Bank has declared a wish to join in the National Payment Card System's (NPCS) pilot project to introduce acquiring, or biometric payment.
"We actively support the process of establishing and developing the capability of the Unified Biometric System, identifying opportunities for the future of digital identification. We believe that there is potential for improvement in this system. In my opinion, pre-identification and "entry" of clients into the biometric system should be as straightforward and intuitive as possible, such as in our Face ID on mobile devices," Gorshkov added.
Meanwhile, payment services similar to VTB Pay already exist at Tinkoff (Tinkoff Pay), Alfa-Bank (Alfa Pay), Sberbank (SberPay), Gazprombank (Gazprom Pay) and MTS Bank (MTS Pay).
