The Turkish army launched another military exercise on the border with Syria - in the province of Sanliurfa, the newspaper Yeni Safak reported. Large-scale exercises were launched on the border with Syria, in the province of Mardin the day before.

The interaction of ground forces with armored units is mastered in the frame of the exercises. The exercise involved a large number of heavy vehicles, including 25 M-47 and M-60tanks.

It is expected that the exercises will be extended, especially in border areas.

Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for more than a year.

They turned into an armed struggle between the opposition and units of the power structures of the country. Reports about new armed incidents and victims appear on a regular basis. This is despite the country having declared a truce since mid-April according to UN-Arab League special envoy to Syria Kofi Annan's plan.

According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria has exceeded 17,000 people. About 230,000 people became refugees.
