Air Force protected Turkish airspace by downing Russian Su-24

The Turkish Air Force protected the country by downing the Russian Su-24 aircraft, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, TRT Haber TV channel reported Dec. 24.

He said that Turkey has taken an action necessary for its airspace protection.

"Turkey is not included in the political agenda of Russia any more and everybody will forget about this incident soon," he said.

Earlier, Russian ambassador to Ankara Andrey Karlov said Turkey must meet three conditions for normalization of relations with Russia.
"Turkey must apologize to Russia over the incident involving the downed aircraft," he said.

He said that the other two conditions are to find and punish the perpetrators of the incident involving the plane and compensate for the damage to the Russian side.

After the incident, the Turkish foreign ministry said that Turkey will not pay compensation for the downed Russian plane.
