Turkey, Iran trade turnover down by nearly $500M

Trade turnover between Turkey and Iran decreased by over $496 million in October 2019 compared to October 2018 and amounted to $266.8 million, Turkey's Ministry of Trade told Trend.

"Turkey's export to Iran amounted to $172.5 million during October 2019, whereas import from Iran was $94.3 million," the ministry said.

Trade turnover between Turkey and Iran also decreased by $3.2 billion from January through October 2019 compared to the same period of last, amounting to over $5 billion.

"Turkey's export to Iran was $1.9 billion during the reporting period, whereas import from Iran exceeded $3 million," the ministry said.

Thus, Turkey's foreign trade turnover amounted to $34.5 billion in October 2019.

During the reporting month Turkey's export decreased by 1.5 percent compared to October 2018 and amounted to $16.3 billion. In turn, import to Turkey increased by 10.7 percent compared to the same period of 218 and equaled $18.1 billion.

Total value of Turkey's foreign trade turnover amounted to $320.9 billion from January through October 2019.
