Exports of Turkish fruits, vegetables & citrus fruits to Russia slightly increase

Exports of fruits, vegetables and citrus fruits from Turkey to Russia last year grew by 2 percent compared to the same period of 2018, exceeding 1 million tons, a source in the Turkish Association of Fruit and Vegetables Exporters told Trend Jan. 21.

Last year, Turkey’s income from exports of fruits, vegetables and citrus fruits to Russia increased by 13 percent compared to the same period of 2018 and amounted to $746.1 million, according to the source.

“Turkey exported to Russia 318,800 tons of fruits from January through December last year (a 7-percent decrease) for $301.1 million (an increase of 5 percent),” said the source. “During this period, Turkey exported 166,331 tons of vegetables to Russia (an increase of 63 percent) for $131.1 million (an increase of 81 percent).”

Last year, the export of citrus fruits from Turkey to Russia decreased by 4 percent compared to 2018, amounting to 559,062 tons, the source noted.

“Turkey exported citrus fruits worth $313.7 million to Russia last year, which is 5 percent more than export figures for 12 months of 2018,” the source said.

Last year, the export of Turkish fruits and vegetables decreased by 11 percent compared to the same period of 2018, amounting to slightly over 4 million tons.

During the mentioned period, Turkey’s income from export of fruits and vegetables decreased by 3 percent compared to export figures in 2018, amounting to $2.2 billion.

Last year, 1.1 million tons of fruits were exported from Turkey, which is 5 percent less compared to the reporting period of 2018. At the same time, over the indicated period, Turkey’s income from fruit exports grew by 2 percent compared to the reporting period of 2018 and amounted to $846 million.

Over the indicated period, the export of vegetables from Turkey decreased by 2 percent compared to the same period in 2018, amounting to 1.2 million tons. Vegetables worth $645 million were exported from Turkey last year.

In the reporting period, Turkey exported 1.6 million tons of citrus fruits, which is 20 percent less compared to the volumes exported in 2018.

Last year, citrus fruits worth $756 million were exported from Turkey.
