Export of defense products from Turkey to Azerbaijan increased by 39.85 percent in 2019 compared to the same period of 2018, exceeding $88.6 million, Turkey’s ministry of trade told Trend.
In December 2019, Turkey’s export of defense products to Azerbaijan also increased by 103.03 percent compared to December 2018, and exceeded $52.6 million.
Turkey’s export of defense products increased by 34.6 percent in 2019 compared to 2018, amounting to $2.7 billion.
In December 2019, export of defense products from Turkey increased by 1.9 percent compared to December 2018, amounting to $288.6 million.
“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier that Turkey will strengthen the defense industry and will be among the world leaders in the production of defense products”
“I instruct all law enforcement agencies to refuse from import of defense products. Turkey is able to provide itself with appropriate products,” Erdogan said.
The president noted that the country will begin mass production of the ALTAY domestic tank soon.
The head of state noted that mass production of the domestic ALTAY tank will begin in the country soon.
Turkey has recently invested about $35 billion in the defense industry.
