Turkey reveals data on 9M2020 cargo shipment through Gemlik port

The volume of cargo shipment via the Turkish Gemlik port surpassed 8.6 million tons from January through September 2020, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

During the reporting period, 762,300 tons of cargo were transported via the port of Gemlik by ships flying the Turkish flag, and ships flying the flag of other countries moved over 7.8 million tons of cargo.

At the same time, 17,172 tons of goods were transited through the Gemlik port over the past nine months of this year, the ministry said.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Turkey exceeded 270.5 million tons from January through September 2020.

Over the reporting period, ships flying the Turkish flag handled over 21.7 million tons of goods.

In the past nine months of this year, the volume of cargo movement via Turkish ports by ships flying their countries' flags made up 10 million tons, while ships flying the flags of other countries – 238.7 million tons, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, more than 54.4 million tons of cargo were transited through the ports of Turkey.

In September 2020, the volume of cargo shipment through the Turkish ports amounted to 31.1 million tons. In this month, ships flying the Turkish flag transshipped over 2.7 million tons of cargo.

Cargo transshipment via the ports of Turkey by ships flying their countries’ flags amounted to 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 27.4 million tons.

Over 6.2 million tons of goods were transported in transit through the Turkish ports in September 2020.
