The volume of cargo transported through Gaziantep Airport amounted to 4,992 tons from January through May 2021, which is 2 percent less compared to the same period of 2020, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.
During this period, the volume of cargo transportation on domestic flights amounted to 4,680 tons (an increase of 24 percent on annual basis), on international - 313 tons (decrease of 77 percent).
“At the same time, passenger traffic at Gaziantep Airport amounted to 496,382 people, showing a decrease of 11 percent. At the same time, the passenger traffic on domestic flights amounted to 489,325 people (decrease by 1 percent), on international - 7,057 people (decrease by 89 percent),” the ministry said.
According to the ministry, the number of flights performed in the reporting period from the airport was 5,154, which is 1 percent less compared to the same period of last year. Meanwhile, the number of flights performed on domestic flights was 5,038 (an increase of 8 percent), on international - 116 (decrease of 79 percent).
In the first 5 months of 2021, the passenger traffic at all airports in Turkey amounted to over 29.4 million people, and the volume of cargo transportation – 1.05 million tons.
