Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is expected to pay an official visit to Hungary next week, a message from the Turkmen government said on June 14.
"After the upcoming bilateral talks, it is planned to sign a package of documents to further develop effective cooperation," the governmental message said.
The two sides initialed the intergovernmental agreement on economic cooperation in Budapest, Hungary in early 2014.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Hungary were established in May, 1992. Hungary became a member of the Council of Europe in 1991 and a full EU member in 2004.
Hungary is interested in receiving Turkmen gas under transnational projects. The project envisaging the laying of a pipeline under the Caspian Sea to the shores of Azerbaijan is regarded as the optimal option. Further, the Turkmen fuel can be delivered to Turkey which borders with European countries.
It was earlier reported that technological equipment and machinery, as well as medicines are included in the commodity structure of imports from Hungary to Turkmenistan.
The export of petroleum products and petrochemicals, Turkmen textiles and other products is of interest.
Turkmenhowayollary (Turkmenistan Airlines) state national service previously said that it can open a flight to Budapest in the coming years.
