India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan July 6-7 at the invitation of the country's President Islam Karimov, National News Agency (UzA) reported.

The status and prospects for the developing Uzbek-Indian relations, as well as the relevant regional and international issues will be discussed during the high-level meetings and negotiations.

During the visit, it is planned to sign a number of intergovernmental documents aimed at strengthening the multifaceted bilateral cooperation.

Currently, India is one of the largest partners of Uzbekistan in the sphere of information technologies, light and textile industry, pharmaceutics and production of spare parts for cars.

As many as 65 enterprises with Indian share operate in Uzbekistan. Moreover, 19 Indian firms and companies have been accredited in this country.
