A group of lawyers from Turkey went to the Gaza Strip in order to gather evidence of war crimes committed by the Israeli army against the people of Gaza, Anadolu agency reported on Monday.

Lawyers from Turkey will cooperate with lawyers from Egypt and Saudi Arabia as part of an international committee set up to investigate any crimes committed by the Israeli army.

Last November, Israeli Armed Forces carried out a military operation against the Gaza Strip. The operation under the name 'pillar of cloud' was launched in response to frequent rocket attacks and lasted a week in the form of remote attacks on hundreds of targets in the Palestinian enclave. The operation killed more than 160 Palestinians, most of whom were civilians.

A truce between the parties has been achieved through US-Egyptian mediation.
