Level of pollution in trans-boundary rivers of Azerbaijan announced

Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 12 /Trend, M.Aliyev/

In early January the environmental monitoring department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan conducted regular monitoring in order to identify the level of pollution of trans-boundary Kur and Araz rivers, as well as their cross-border sleeves, the press service of the Ministry told Trend.

Water consumption in Kur in the first decade of 2011 decreased by one cubic meter per second compared to the last decade of 2010 and was 126 cubic meters per second.
According to monitoring results, because of the fact that household waste and polluted water of industrial enterprises in the territory of Georgia and Armenia is dumped directly into water sources without treatment, the volume of biogenic substances in the Kur River is several times higher than normal.

According to monitoring results, water consumption in the Araz River was 81 cubic meters per second. Oxygen regime in all monitoring stations is within 5.64-6.51 mg per liter of water that meet sanitary standards.
