Leader of Iranian Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on February 8 that the U.S. officials are lying when they say they are not seeking regime change in Iran, Iranian ISNA news agency reported.

Ayatollah Khamenei went on to note that the United States would not hesitate, if it was able to do so.

Iran's leader further said that compromise with arrogant powers will lead to nowhere.

"The secret to the longevity of Iran's Islamic revolution is its reliance on Islamic values," he added.

Iran's leader added that seeking independence should not be translated into hostility with the rest of the world.

He said that independence means resistance against the interventionist powers who don't respect the dignity of other nations for their personal interests.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks during an address to commanders of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force.

"While criticism should be fair, yet Iranian presidential administration should be given a chance," he said.

"The administration has just recently come into office, and should tolerate fair criticism," Khamenei said.
