The regional countries are in dire need of Nowrouz culture, which means reconciliation, peace, cooperation and friendship, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on March 27 morning, the country's IRNA news agency reported.

President Rouhani made the remark in Tehran's Mehrabad international airport prior to his departure to Kabul to attend Nowrouz festival in the Afghan capital.

Rouhani underlined that Nowrouz has changed into an active culture and is no longer an ancient tradition.

The region is suffering from extremism, terrorism and conflicts, he said, underling that such meetings and settlement of problems are beneficial for the entire region.

President Rouhani is accompanied by foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Vice-president Masoud Soltanifar and his cultural advisor Hessameddin Ashena in his visit to Afghanistan.
