PKK bomb attack in southeastern Turkey kills teenager

A 14-year-old boy was killed and another person wounded after PKK detonated a bomb while a military convoy was passing an area of road in the southeastern city of Diyarbakır, To Days Zaman reported.

PKK members detonated a remote controlled bomb that they planted beforehand on a road leading to a dam that is under construction in Diyarbakır's Silvan district at around 11:20 a.m. as the military convoy was passing the spot.

Mehmet Emin Sipil (14) who was in the area at the time of the incident, was killed, and a man who was working as a driver at Diyarbakır Municipality's Waterworks Authority was injured.

The municipality worker was taken to Silvan State Hospital by ambulance.

Police teams took security measures around the area in the event of a second bomb being present. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
