Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has approved State Program on Resort Development for 2009-2018.
The program aims to use natural and health care resources more effectively, develop treatment zones and align their activities with world standards.
The program also calls for measures to improve legislation on resort activity, using world experience in development of resorts, regulation of resorts' activities, improving this system with support of private resort companies and advertise resorts to secure access to world market of resort services.
The state program is composed of two stages. The first stage covers 2009-2011. It includes bulk of measures to develop resorts and sanatoriums. The second stage, which covers 2012-2018, calls for taking further steps and continuing certain measures based on the first stage.
The program will be financed by the state budget, state funds, local and foreign investors and other sources in accordance with legislation.
The amount of budge funds for the program will be defined while designing budget for coming years.
The program is expected to enable to achieve effective use of natural and health care resources, access of Azerbaijani resorts to international service markets, create good image for Azerbaijani resorts, to prevent temporary or constant disablement cases among population, reduce cardiovascular, neurologic and gastrointestinal diseases through preventive measures, increase profitability of this sector and develop related economic fields.
