The U.S. congratulate Azerbaijani security forces on their efforts in arresting the Azerbaijanis, who cooperated with the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, U.S. Charge d'Affaires in Azerbaijan Adam Sterling told journalists on Friday.
"We understand from public information that the people were arrested, who were involved in cooperating with dangerous plan, and we are very happy that the security forces have stopped these actions," Sterling said.
Sterling said the U.S. government cooperatively works with Azerbaijan on security issues.
As a result of a special operation conducted by the Azerbaijani Ministry of National Security, a group of 22 individuals was revealed and detained. It is accused of espionage activity against Azerbaijan on the instructions of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the public relations department at the Ministry, told Trend.
