Baku, Azerbaijan, May 7
By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:
The campaign to discredit Azerbaijan in anticipation of the first European Games was predictable, deputy prime minister of Azerbaijan, chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov told reporters May 6.
He said that neither the United States, European countries, Russia, nor any developed countries of the world could and would be able to achieve what Azerbaijan has achieved over the past 10 years.
Hasanov said that this is the reason for holding these campaigns, the aim of which is to blacken Azerbaijan in anticipation of such major events as the first European Games.
Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
