Azerbaijan's representative Sabahi Shariati (130 kg) competed with Ukrainian athlete Mykola Kuchmii in the Greco-Roman wrestling qualifications in 1/8 finals.
Shariati defeated Kuchmii and advanced to 1/4 finals, 8:0.
Thus, aside from Sabahi Shariati, the following Azerbaijani athletes advanced to 1/4 finals on Greco-Roman wrestling: Hasan Aliyev (up to 66 kg) and Elvin Mursaliyev (up to 75 kg).
