Azerbaijan plans to increase the production of frozen persimmon for export, Gadir Yusifov, chairman of the Azerbaijani Association of Persimmon Producers and Exporters, told Trend.
“The process of setting up the production of this type of persimmon has been launched,” the chairman said.
“In general, we plan to establish production of frozen persimmon to supply to the foreign markets,” Yusifov said. “In this regard, we have already received offers from Russia and Ukraine. According to our estimates, we will be ready for export approximately in the middle of 2020.”
The chairman said that that the persimmon production volumes reached 150,000 tons in Azerbaijan from January to September 2019.
“The persimmon production volumes are planned to reach 200,000 tons till late 2019,” Yusifov said.
"We plan to increase production of persimmon, as well as to establish production of frozen persimmons through opening new persimmon processing plants in the districts of the country in 2020," the chairman added.
“The persimmon production volumes reached approximately 200,000 tons in 2018, which corresponded to the same indicator in 2017,” Yusifov said.
The Azerbaijani Association of Persimmon Producers and Exporters was established in August 2017 on the initiative of entrepreneurs and through the support of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.
The main objectives of the association are to increase the production of competitive products, as well as expand the export of persimmon.
