Some 3.2 million tons of dry tobacco have been produced in Azerbaijan's Shaki district since the beginning of the production period, the subsidiary of the Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation (AIC) – Azertutun told Trend.
This year tobacco was planted on 1,108 hectares in the economy of the Shaki district. The collecting of tobacco is currently ongoing.
The country produced tobacco products worth 296.6 million manat ($174.5 million) from January through September of 2020. Also from January through September of 2020, the agro-industrial sector produced 4,717 tons of tobacco. This is 11 percent more than in the same period last year.
From January through September of 2020, tobacco and tobacco products worth $61.4 million were imported to Azerbaijan.
