BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. The process of digitalization of agriculture in Azerbaijan is proceeding at a rapid pace, and great attention will be paid to this, Goshgar Tahmazli, chairman of the country’s Food Safety Agency (FSA), said, Trend reports.

Tahmazli made the remark on May 6 in Baku, at an international conference on agriculture digitalization, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture with the support of FAO.

According to him, in recent years FSA has made big progress to ensure food security and increase the export potential of Azerbaijan.

"So, we control food security in accordance with international standards, and cooperation has been established with a number of foreign organizations," the agency’s head noted.

Besides, according to him, electronic identification of farm animals was launched in 2021 as part of a project to strengthen agricultural activities.

"This allowed to ensure control over the health of farm animals and the quality of their nutrition, as well as over a number of other indicators,” he said. “Therefore, we’ll be able to improve the quality of products supplied to the market. Such a project has been implemented in Baku and Sumgayit to date.”

Tahmazli also noted that Azerbaijan has established strict control over the import and export of food products.

"This will ensure transparency and efficiency of doing business in the food industry," Tahmazli said.
