Some 56 people were poisoned as a result of chlorine leakage in the settlement of Lilo in suburb of Tbilisi. As the Georgian Health Ministry told Trend, last night chlorine leaked from a 800-liter tank owned by Crystal company, which led to poisoning of people in residential buildings near the company.

There are 21 women among the victims, one of whom was pregnant and they were delivered to the high-tech clinic. The health state of one of the victims is critical.

Dozens of fire engines, police patrol and ambulances have been mobilized for delivery of patients and the elimination of leakage.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Health Minister Zurab Chiaberashvili visited the victims at night. Saakashvili expressed his support for victims and promised to punish those responsible for the leakage.
