Within the past two days, the Syrian government has freed 193 prisoners suspected of rioting, Sana agency reported on Thursday.
Some 109 prisoners have been released in the city of Aleppo.
Some 16 people have been released in the capital, Damascus with another 68 in the city of Homs.
Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for 18 months. According to the UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 20,000.
More than 230,000 have become refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
