10th anniversary of GUAM Marked in Astana

Kazakhstan, Astana / corr Trend K.Konirova / A join reception by three embassies accredited in Kazakhstan, including Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine, was held in Astana to mark the 10th anniversary of GUAM, Trend correspondent in Kazakhstan reported.

In his keynotes to the ceremony as a chairing country in GUAM, Latif Gandilov, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kazakhstan, said that the organization was not established against anyone, but for the development and prosperity of the nations.

The Azerbaijani diplomat said that he diversification of сenergy deliveries is one of important issue both for every producer and consumer of hydrocarbons.

"Our organization has both producers and consumers and we work as a unified team. We opened an energy corridor for deliveries from the Caspian region to the Black and Baltic sea regions," Gandilov said.

Attending the reception were representatives from different countries, Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan, businessmen, actors and journalists.

GUAM is an international regional organization, comprised of 4 countries - Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova. GUAM Consultative Forum was established on 10 October 1997 within the framework of the CE Summit in Strasburg, when the four leaders signed a communique. The essence of the agreement is the development of the four-lateral cooperation for strengthening stability and security in Europe, territorial integrity, inviolability of borders and democracy.
