Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Mammadov / The President of North Cyprus, Ali Talat, will pay a visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) of Azerbaijan in 2008. The decision was arrived at during a visit of the NAR Supreme Court Judge, Vasif Talibov, to North Cyprus.
Talibov visited North Cyprus for the 24th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus. During the visit Talibov met with Fatma Ekanoglu, the Speaker of the Parliament.
Prospects of cooperation between both countries were discussed.
Recently Talat paid a visit to Azerbaijan and attended the 11th meeting of friendship, fraternity and cooperation of the Turkic nations and societies which began in Baku on 17 November.
The area of NAR is 5,500km sq m, which constitutes 6.4% of Azerbaijan's territory. Nakhchivan consists of the regions Babek, Sharur, Ordubad, Sadarak, Shahbuz, Julfa and Kangarli. Nakhchivan AR with its capital Nakhchivan City has a population of 380,200.
