Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 January / Trend corr. E.Huseynli / Four Azerbaijani peace-keeping soldiers in Iraq were awarded the United States Military-Marine Forces and Sea Infantryman medals for good service.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry's press-service reported to Trend that the officers of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Mayor Huseyn Dashdamirov, Captains Nasimi Javadov and Alizamin Karimov, and Chief Lieutenant Abdulla Abdullayev were awarded medals for their professional military service.
Since 1997 the peace-keeping troop, and later the peace-keeping camp, were formed in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. About 150 peace-keeping soldiers of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have been serving in Iraq, 34 in Kosovo and 45 in Afghanistan.
The officers were awarded with medals by the head of NATO and Multinational Forces.
