Solution of Crimes Discussed in Azerbaijani Interior Ministry Meeting

Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 April/ corr. Trend E. Huseyinli/ The solution to crimes having been committed in previous years were discussed during the meeting of Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan, the Ministry said to Trend .

As a result of measures taken by the Interior Ministry agencies in 2007, some 410 crimes were solved with 65 of them being serious. During this period, some 3,752 persons (72.1%) were detained with 359 (30.8%) having committed serious crimes. "The whereabouts of 1,122 (75.65) of 1,484 missing people has been defined.

Some 13,299 people were made answerable in 2007 with 1,803 (13.6%) being women, 357 (2.7%) juveniles, 11.127 (83.7%) unemployed and illiterate and 1,490 (11.2%) were persons who were previously convicted.

Emin Shakinskiy, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Department addressed the meeting. During his speech he stressed the significance of immediate measures to be taken to solve crimes. The matter of increasing the discipline of the staff was discussed during the meeting.
