Georgia, Tbilisi, 20 August / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / The Georgian President is sure that establishment of commission with alliance will assist his country in quick integration to this organization, Mikheil Saakashvili stated at a joint news conference with David Milliband, the UK Foreign Minister on 20 August.

"We have close relations with NATO and we tried to establish such relations with Russia, but they had quite different objectives," he said.

He stressed that provocation in Tskhinvali was planned beforehand. "It was meaningless to negotiate with Sukhumi and Tskhinvali, as with Moscow, which waited for suitable time to deal a blow to Georgia and to undermine our statehood," Saakashvili said.

According to the Georgian President, Georgia waited for blow from Abkhazia, while Moscow chose Tskhinvali. "Apparently, it was because of nearness to Tbilisi and if the international community did not interfere into this matter, Russia would seize Tbilisi as well," the President said.

Saakashvili said that he intended to fight with Russia through peace means. "We are the European nation and will struggle with invaders through peaceful means. We will force them to leave Georgia without use of arms," he said.
