Russia and EU Responsible for Stability in European Continent: Belgian Foreign Minister
Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 September/ Trend , corr V. Zhavoronkova/ Russia and European Union are responsible for stability in the European continent, Karl de Gucht, Foreign Minister of Belgium who has paid a visit to Moscow said on 3 September, Vesti TV channel of Russia reported.
" Russia should be part of world community," Gucht said in a joint briefing with his Russian counterpart.
The Minister said latest developments in Georgia were discussed in Georgia.
"It is important to resume normal life conditions. Belgium is ready to assists regarding humanitarian aid," Minister said.
At the night of 8 August, large-scale military operations were launched in the self-declared South Ossetia republic. The Georgian troops entered Tskhinvali. Later the Russian troops entered the city and drove the Georgian forces back to the Georgian territory.
On 12 August, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev announced that he has decided to end operations to compel Georgia to peace.
The Russian peacekeepers and international observers are still in Georgia.
