Afghanistan, Kabul, Jan. 29 / Trend , A. Hakimi/ General Z aheer Azimi, spokesman for Afghan defense ministry says a high-ranking government delegation may visit Russia in forthcoming days. But, Humayoon Hamid Zadah, spokesman for Afghan president, said in a press conference that Russia will provide technical support for ANA. The ministry accepting the Afghan government's proposal for aid from Russia said more details about receiving aid from the Russian government will be clarified after the government officials' visit from Russia. The ministry of defense says Russia had provided $50 million worth of military aids to the Afghan government in the past. President Karzai had warned that if the Untied States will not continue its military aid to Afghanistan, he will demand arms and materiel from other countries. The ministry says that the government had also planned a visit by the minister of defense to Russia before, but the meeting did not take place. Karzai's recent demands for Russian aid have prompted criticism and severe reactions by some analysts, who call the president's actions dangerous and irresponsible for stirring up potential strains between Moscow and Washington. Mean while Russia and Uzbekistan have urged the countries in the region to make more efforts in fight against terrorism. They have urged for an international conference about this issue. But new relation between Afghanistan and Russia is considered seeking new patron for Afghanistan by political experts. |
