Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 23 / Trend , N.Abdullayeva/

Azerbaijan and Jordan intend to expand military and technical cooperation.

Azerbaijani Defense Minister Lieutenant General Safar Abiyev will discuss perspectives to expand military and technical cooperation in Amman in April, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Jordan Elman Arasli told Trend in a telephone conversation on Feb. 23.

The visit's exact date and program is being specified via diplomatic channels, Arasli said.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a bilateral defense agreement during his visit to Jordan in 2007. Under the agreement, a joint commission on military cooperation was formed and its first meeting was held in Baku in summer 2008. The parties discussed bilateral cooperation issues, as well as military staff training at Jordanian universities and sharing experience.

Azerbaijan has signed a military and technical cooperation agreement with over 20 countries and is cooperating with over 50 countries in this sphere.
