For the first time Iran has started production of engines for locomotives. About 60 percent of production work has been carried out. The next steps envisage 90 percent of the work," Iranian television quoted Director of the Iranian Railway company Hasan Ziara as saying.
According to Ziara, repair of a locomotive engine and its production is of great importance in the railway transport. Iran will solve this problem by starting the production of motors for locomotives.
He also stressed that the length of the railway will be of 25,000 kilometers, the number of locomotives will reach 2,000, the number of freight cars - 60,000 and passenger cars - 10,000 in Irn by 2025.
Under the draft, 9,000 kilometers of railways, 400 locomotives, 23,000 of freight cars and 1,000 of coaches are operated.
