Georgian Club of Generals is protesting against permanent attempts to discredit the club and ungrounded accusations.

"Though the Club of General has urged not to intervene with internal political processes on numerous occasions, the club has been subject to permanent attacks and ungrounded accusations. They are not only untrue, but also sullies dignity of many people who devoted great part of their lives to serving Georgian government," the statement by the club said.

The club said unworthy campaign against General Karkarashvili, suspicious rebellion in Mukhrovani and arrest of General Kobaladze gives ground to conclude the following: non-interference into political processes does not mean that we do not have clear position on this issue. We do have clear position on the military game into which Georgian Armed Forces were involuntarily involved. We also have a clear position on unhealthy processes ongoing in our Armed Forces for the last years and finally we have our own civil position which among other things also includes self-sacrifice for the sake of Georgia."

"From the view of civil position, we believe that there must be an end to moral persecution of high-ranking retired military men and psychological pressure on members of their families. True causes of General Kobaladze's arrest must be demonstrated and openly declared, otherwise we have a right to assess this act as political persecution," said the statement by the club generals David Tevzadze, Vladimir Imnadze and George Gogashvili.
