Representatives of parliamentary majority and minority appreciate the joint statement by the United States and the European Union urging the Georgian authorities and opposition to launch a dialogue.

David Darchishvili, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, stated that the statement is a "very partner" and "clear" expression of two views. "First, the dialogue has no alternative and it should be launched as soon as possible and second, everything must be taken within the framework of the Constitution," Darchiashvili said.

No alternative dialogue is not in doubt of the Christian Democrats. George Akhvlediani, member of the parliamentary opposition, said the Christian Democrats have stated before the escalation of the situation said that confrontation is unacceptable and the crisis should be resolved through dialogue. "We must decide whether to become part of the civilized world," Akhvlediani said.

Levan Gachechiladze, leader of the radical opposition, believes that "facade policy" prevails in Georgia, commenting the joint statement of the U.S. and the EU. The position on dialogue with the authorities is invariable for Gachechiladze -President Micheil Saakashvili must resign.

"When we demanded president's resignation as a way out of the crisis, we understood that no steps were taken to overcome the political crisis," Gachechiladze added.
