Azerbaijan, Baku, August 14 / Trend R. Khafizoglu /

The Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party is wary of disclosing details on solving the Kurdish problem, expert from the George Washington University, Merve Kavakci, said.

"The Party does not disclose the details of the Kurdish problem fearing actions aimed to disrupt the plans of the terrorist organization" Merve Kavakci told Trend over the phone from Washington.

During the meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey is sure to solve the Kurdish problem.

Before, the Turkish Prime Minister had met with the leader of the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party, Ahmet Turk. The Prime Minister said that the meeting was positive, and soon the Kurdish issue will be actively solved. Turk also said that the meeting was the beginning of a dialogue between the parties.

Opposition leader Deniz Baykal thinks that the authorities are negotiating with people who encourage terrorism in the region. Baykal called for the authorities to openly express their views on the Kurdish issue.

In his turn, Turkish Interior Minister Bashir Atalay met also met with the leader of the Democratic Society Party, Turk, on August 13.

Kavakci said that in fact, solving the Kurdish problem in Turkey is not a new topic for the Party. "The settlement of the Kurdish problem has been discussed before. The protest by radical nationalists and the events which took place in Aktutun, prevented the implemention of this plan," the expert said.

During his visit to Diyabekr in 2005, where Kurds live in compact conditions, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the authorities intend to solve the Kurds' problem as soon as possible. Despite this, the opposition did not react positively to the party's plan. Later, the destruction of 15 Turkish soldiers by the terrorist organization of the Kurdistan Workers Party, PKK, in October 2008 prevented the party's plan being implemented.

Kavakci said that solving the Kurdish problem is directly connected with the democratization of Turkey, and the party is closer to solving the problem now compared to previous years.
