Iran attaches great importance to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's official visit to Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki told journalists on Oct.26.

The Turkey-Iran relations are based on a strategic basis and mutual respect, Mottaki said. The talks, which will be held in Tehran, will create the ground to promote the Iranian-Turkish relations.

The talks will center on the bilateral relations, regional issues and the changes taking place in the region, Mottaki added.

"Iran and Turkey constantly exchange views on regional issues. I believe after Erdogan's visit the two presidents' meeting will come to agenda. Such meetings are steps to strengthen relations between the two countries," the minister said.

Erdogan's Tehran visit starts on Oct. 26.
