Cities throughout Iran are rallying against international imperialism, IRNA reported today. Protestors sound the slogans "Death to Israel," "Death to America" and "Death to Imperialism."
Each year, Iran marks Nov. 4 as the Day of National Struggle Against International Imperialism.
Iranian students attacked the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1980 and took embassy employees hostage. Iranian Supreme Leader Imam Khomeini later declared the day a national holiday.
After the Iranian Revolution, Iranian students attacked the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and kept 53 hostages for 444 days.
Tehran Security Forces Commander Mohammad Reza Alipur yesterday said rallies will only be held in front of the U.S. "spy den" in Tehran. Police will take serious measures against violators.
Police have already clashed with opposition supporters during a rally in Tehran today, BBC reported.
