Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree approving amendments and changes to the law on traffic rules and the administrative offense code, the AzerTaj state news agency reported. 

The Cabinet of Ministers was tasked with preparing proposals to bring existing legislation in line with a bill on amendments and changes to the law on traffic movement rules and the administrative offense code within two months.

Under the amendments, the speed limit is now 20 kilometers per hour in residential areas and courtyards - down from 60 kilometers per hour previously.

Based on the bill, drivers talking on their mobile phones will be fined 50 manat. Additionally, individuals under the age of 14 will no longer have the right to ride bicycles on roads.

Only persons 16 years and older can now drive mopeds, bicycles equipped with motors, and A1 category vehicles. Individuals 18 years and older can drive A, B and C category vehicles. Only persons 19 years and older can now drive BE category vehicles.

Drivers are no longer allowed to hang curtains in cars and buses. Taxis also do not have the right to pull over or park at bus stops.

Military servicemen must now be 19 years and older to drive CE, D and DE category vehicles.
