Crime rate increases by 1.3 percent in Baku

A total of 5,616 crimes were registered in Baku in the first six months of 2010. The figure is 1.3 percent more than during the same period last year, the Baku Central Police Department said.
During the reporting period, 80.7 percent of the crimes were solved compared to 79.2 percent last year.
The police recorded 1,952 crimes against property, which is 11 cases less than last year.
The number of drug-related crimes dropped from 867 to 856 cases.
Crimes related to traffic regulations increased by 3.5 percent. Traffic accidents resulting in fatalities increased from 130 to 150 cases.
