Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met special envoy to the Secretary General on United Nations, vice-chair of the Reflection group on the long term future of the European Union, Latvian ex-president Ms. Vaira Vike-Freiberga.

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met special envoy to the Secretary General on United Nations, vice-chair of the Reflection group on the long term future of the European Union, Latvian ex-president Ms. Vaira Vike-Freiberga.
Mammadyarov praised the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia.
He noted integration into the Euro-Atlantic structures was a priority of Azerbaijan's foreign policy.
The minister said energy and infrastructure projects initiated by Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus region play significant role in development of the region.
Mammadyarov pointed out the fact Armenia still continues to occupy Azerbaijan's territories, and demonstrates unconstructive position, which prevents the country from deriving benefits from the regional development.
For her part, Ms. Vaira Vike-Freiberga praised the role of Azerbaijan in development of the South Caucasus region.
She also expressed regret over Armenia's not using the existing chance.
The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
