The population census, to be held within 12 days from Dec. 15-26, 2012, must provide information about all spheres of public life in Turkmenistan, local media reported.
According to Neutral Turkmenistan, the census will reveal the main problems.
The census will be conducted by visiting houses and gathering information about every resident of the place of residence (house, apartment, room, etc.).
The oral questioning will be conducted with every adult member of the family, regardless of age, citizenship, permanent or temporary residence.
Moreover, the census must cover the entire population, including those who can be in hotels, hospitals, institutions.
All individual information, gathered during the census, is confidential. The Article 12 of the Turkmen law "State Statistics" contains clear guarantees of protecting information about the population. Such information concerns the information contained in the report lists.
It will be used to obtain summary data. It will not affect the personal interests of citizens. Processing information about the population contained in the report lists will be carried out in conditions ensuring their protection against unauthorized access and preventing theft, loss, or other distortions.
The Turkmen socio-economic development policy, conducted at the present stage, must be based on reliable data, used virtually in all spheres of life, including compiling the state budget, energy and transport policy, social welfare, planning of labor markets and housing, health, education, national policy.
