The U.S. Marine General John Amos visited the Georgian soldier Corporal Alik Gitolendia, who was wounded in Afghanistan and is undergoing treatment, the Georgian Defense Ministry told Trend.
Gitolendia got wounded as the result of a mine blast, which killed four other soldiers.
The U.S. general noted the contribution of Georgian soldiers in ISAF operations, emphasizing that the Georgian servicemen honorably discharge their duties and are reliable partners for the U.S. military.
The Georgian serviceman is said to be out of danger and was earlier visited by the U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama.
The 31st battalion has already been replaced in Afghanistan on the principles of rotation by the 32nd battalion of the Georgian Armed Forces.
