Georgia, Tbilisi, July 22 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /

All the actions taken by the Georgian government aim to facilitate European integration, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said today.

The president added that this is done because it is the choice of the Georgian people, rather than the decision of the Georgian government and the EU.

"I am an optimist, because we have tremendous progress in the European transformation and European integration, at least for the recent months," he said.

"Georgia is successful in the EU's neighbor's policy," he said. "It successfully fulfills the conditions of an association agreement."

The European Commissioner for EU Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule said that Georgia made its choice in favor of rapprochement and integration with the EU.

"We pay attention to the development of Georgia socially and economically," Fule said. The country is moving rapidly in this direction."
