Azerbaijan and Austria had entered a new stage of dynamic bilateral relations, Azerbaijani President
Ilham Aliyev said at an enlarged meeting with his Austrian Counterpart Heinz Fischer with the participation of the Azerbaijani and Austrian delegations.
"I know that there are mutual interests in the economic sphere," Aliyev said. "Business communities will hold meetings. We have achieved good results in the cultural sphere. I believe we can be satisfied with the level of cooperation. Of course, your visit will further strengthen these ties, and I hope it would give a very good result."
Emphasizing the importance of Fischer's visit for the development of the bilateral ties, Aliyev said several important documents are expected to be signed, as well as a comprehensive discussion of a number of different issues is expected to be held, during the visit.
"The agenda is quite expanded. We are ready to discuss settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and energy cooperation, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest in the economic sphere. We are entering a new phase of rapidly developing bilateral relations," President Aliyev stated.
President Fischer was pleased to remember National Leader Heydar Aliyev's visit to Austria in 2010.
"Eleven years have passed, many changes taken place and a great development has been recorded since then. Your country has made a big step in terms of the development pace. This is commendable. I congratulate you on this. Thank you for inviting me and delegation accompanying me to visit Azerbaijan. I was very pleased to accept your invitation. Our delegation includes not only politicians and diplomats, but also representatives of business, science, tourism and other spheres," he said.
