U.S. President Barack Obama congratulated Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev on his birthday.
"Our countries established strong relations which are based on common interests and mutual respect, and I am fully committed to boost our vital partnership," he said in a letter addressed to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on his 50th anniversary. "We will continue closely cooperating to expand the energy security of Europe by the efforts of the two countries, to conduct the democratic and economic reforms, to strengthen the regional security, in many issues, especially to achieve a comprehensive peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"I congratulate you on your birthday, convey you and your family best wishes for the New Year," the letter said. I congratulate your on your 50th birthday. I was satisfied with your greeting, sent in August last year in connection with my 50th birthday. This is a really important anniversary.
