Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said the U.S. military assets should not exist in the Persian Gulf, Mehr News agency reported. He said the non-region countries cause chaos in the region.

Commenting on the reports abut closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Vahidi said security at the Strait has been ensured by Iran for a long time. The country will further take appropriate measures to ensure the security at the Strait of Hormuz.

"The deployment of the U.S. military assets in the Persian Gulf region will continue as it has for decades," spokesman Commander Bill Speaks said earlier in answer to threats, sounded from Iranian army commander Ataollah Salehi about U.S. Navy carrier, who left the Persian Gulf as Iranian Navy war games started.
