Turkey sends protest note to Syria

Turkey has sent a protest note to Syria, the Turkish newspaper Yenisafak said on Saturday. According to the newspaper, the note of protest was sent because the Syrian artillery shell landed in the province of Sanliurfa on Friday.

Turkey has sent a protest note to Syria, the Turkish newspaper Yenisafak said on Saturday. According to the newspaper, the note of protest was sent because the Syrian artillery shell landed in the province of Sanliurfa on Friday.

One Syrian artillery shell landed in the province of Sanliurfa, Akchakale district on Friday. No one was injured but several homes and buildings were damaged.

Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for a year and half.

According to UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is nearing 20,000.
More than 230,000 have become refugees with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
