The issue of a single candidate remains a priority for Azerbaijani Popular Front Party (APFP), the deputy chairman of the party, a member of the so-called Public Chamber Fuad Gahramanli said commenting on recommendation of head of Musavat Party Isa Gambar's candidacy.

Gahramanli expressed hope that the question of nominating a single candidate in the presidential elections will not arise in his party.

He considered the recommendation of Isa Gambar's candidacy as the right of Musavat party.

"The memorandum, adopted by the so-called Public Chamber, stated that the nomination of candidates by parties belonging to the so-called Public Chamber, does not contradict with the issue of a single candidate. This means, a single candidate of the so-called Public Chamber should be chosen from these candidates, "Gahramanli said.

Selection of a candidate among the called candidacies will start in due time , he said.

"However, at present, we find the discussion of this issue unacceptable and determination of a single candidate can be carried out not within the framework of the so called Public Chamber, but in a wider format," Gahramanli said.

The chairman of Azadliq party Ahmed Oruj stressed the difficulty of the procedure for determining a single candidate.

"It's generally known, that only a part of the opposition is represented in the so-called Public Chamber and the decisions taken in the framework of the so-called Public Chamber have to be agreed with other opposition blocs and parties, which is a complex process," Ahmed Oruj said.

Presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan in autumn of 2013.
